POST DOC position at National Taiwan University in a joint research project on
Simulation of Solid-Fluid Interaction and Debris Flow Modeling
•Background of candidates: PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Applied Physics, Environmental Engineering, or any other fields with extensive experience in computational fluid dynamics. Specialty in solid-fluid interaction is highly desired.
•C++ programming experience is preferred (but not exclusive).
•Knowledge of multiphase flow is a plus.
Applications for a post-doctoral research associate position for a period of up to 3 years are invited with a possible starting date as early as September 1, 2008. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possibility of renewal for two more years.
We are looking for candidates with strong computational fluid dynamics skills and additional experience of multi-phase or granular flow modeling is especially appreciated. The successful applicant will be in charge of a numerical simulation with a focus on solid-fluid interaction. The knowledge shall be applied to understand and to model the mechanics of debris flows or other solid-liquid two-phase flows. The candidate is expected to have interest in both modeling and experimental work, since the project involves a significant portion of experimental verification and validation.
This project belongs to the second phase of a government-sponsored project ‘Aim for Top University Project’ at National Taiwan University (https://top100.ntu.edu.tw/en/). This project is multidisciplinary in nature and will be conducted in junction between the Departments of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering,
Those interested should contact Professor David C-S Chen (e-mail: dchen@ntu.edu.tw).
Application materials should be submitted via e-mail, including a cover letter (stating specific interests, qualifications, and experience as it relates to the research project) and a CV (including the names and the contact information for three references), and a phone number for a possible phone interview. The search will continue until the position is filled, but applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.
