A Full-time Research and Administrative Assistant Needed
(September 2008/open for 1 week only)
Job Description: A successful candidate is to work as a research and administrative assistant to Dr. Byron Gong, who is in charge of setting up a test item bank for the Soochow University English Proficiency Test (SCUEPT) of the Excellence Teaching Project (卓越計劃) sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
This is a full-time desk job which lasts one academic year, but might be extended; and work schedule is based on the university calendar. The candidate should be able to work independently and efficiently. Since this job involves much computer-based work, s/he should be good at English word-processing of Microsoft Word, Excel, and some statistical knowledge is also required. Job responsibilities include data processing, editing, basic statistical analysis, report drafting, and some administrative work. The nature of this job requires the successful candidate to be courteous and communicative, plus good telephone manners.
The preferred candidate could be one with an MA in English Language Teaching (ELT), Applied Linguistics, or other related fields; but excellent BA graduate is welcome if s/he is also good at English and some statistical knowledge. Being interested (or experienced) in Language Testing, ELT, or applied linguistics is certainly an advantage.

Job starts from September 2008 (the exact date can be discussed to meet the needs).
Salary: NT$ 35,000 for an MA / NT$ 30,600 for a BA per month (Insurance included)
